DONATE A CAN OF PAINT!  As you know, we are participating in the Give a Day, Get a Disney Day program, and we will hosted a
painting party at the co-op on 2/13 for over 100 volunteers!  We painted and repaired chairs, lofts, cubbies, bookcases and more.  It is
a big project that we hope will make a big difference for the children at the co-op!

The co-op will be using money from our reserve account (funds reserved for building improvements and other necessities).  However,
we would like to use as little money as possible from the reserve.
If you would like to help make a difference and be a part of this
project, you can donate the cost of a gallon of paint.  Your $25.00 donation will go specifically to this improvement project -- and
you will see immediate results!

You can drop your contribution off in the black tuition box or the mailbox, give it to your classroom teacher, or mail it to the co-op (200
Squaw Brook Rd.  North Haledon, NJ).  Please write "donation" on the check memo line.  (Because we are a non-profit organization,
donations to the co-op are tax deductible.)

As we revise our website, we will be adding a co-op Hall of Fame to honor and thank members who make donations to the co-op.
There will be a special section for the Give a Day painting project.  To show our gratitude on behalf of the children, those who
contribute $25 or more to this project will be included in the section of our website.

PRESS RELEASE - Free Story Time March 10, 2009

NHCOOP Celebrates Dr Seuss's Birthday with a Free Reading Party for Area Children
The North Haledon Cooperative Nursery School is celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday with a free story hour for area children.  The reading party will be be
held on Tuesday March 10 from 10:00 – 11:00.  Activities will include stories, crafts, and of course birthday cake!  It is geared toward children ages 1 ½ – 5
years of age.  Mark your calendars now.  The co-op requests that you RSVP to register your child(ren) so that ample refreshments can be provided.  Please
call  973-427-8709 or email nhcoop@optonline.net with the name(s) and age(s) of your child(ren) and your phone number.

The event is planned to coincide with the National Education Association's (NEA) 12th Annual Read Across America campaign.  The NEA estimates that
last year almost 45 million children and adults celebrated the joy of reading on Dr. Seuss's birthday.  This year they hope to bring a nation of readers
together to really drive home the message about of the importance of reading. For more information about how to generate excitement for reading among
America's children and their families and about best practices for motivating and teaching reading, visit www.nea.org/readacross.

The North Haledon Cooperative Nursery School places a huge emphasis on early literacy skills and helping children develop a love of reading, so they
look forward to celebrating Dr. Seuss's birthday and Read Across America again this year!  The co-op is eager to work with community families to help
inspire families to read together on March 10 and every day.

The North Haledon Co-op is located at 200 Squaw Brook Road in North Haledon.  Ample parking is available in the church parking lot.  The parking lot
entrance is on the left hand side of the road just before the church.  If the event is re-scheduled to due inclement weather, an announcement will be
posted on this website.

PARENTS' NIGHT -- Please be sure to mark your calendars for Parents' Night (formerly known as Fathers' Night).
This year's Parents' Nights are being held on:
WED. MAR. 10 from 6:30 - 7:30 for 2M, 3M & PreK (3 days)
THURS. MAR. 11 from 6:30 - 7:30 for 2T, 3T & PreK (4 days)

This event is for co-op parents and children. It is an opportunity for the children to share their school day with
parents who do not regularly co-op in the classroom.  (If Mom co-ops, your child should bring Dad; If Dad co-ops,
your child should bring Mom; If neither parent co-ops, then your child can bring one of you or both of you!  Because
of space limitations, we do ask families where one parent co-ops regularly to send only the parent who doesnt
usually get to come into the class - and no siblings please.)

In past years, this evening has been a highlight for the children! They love to be able to share their classroom with
parents who don't normally get to join us during the day.  The parents and children will participate in usual school
day activities -- crafts, songs, and play-time.

If you have any questions about the program, please contact your child's teacher or the director.

YEARBOOK COMMITTEE FORMING
Hello Co-op Families, The yearbook has been set up and the pages are ready to be created.  It is so much fun
seeing the pages come alive with photos from throughout the year of our children living those co-op experiences.  I
am looking for volunteers to join me in putting it all together.  I especially need help identifying students.  It doesn't
require a lot of time, as much or as little as you'd like to contribute.  If you would like to learn how, please contact me
asap.

I am coordinating a learning session at the North Haledon Library so we can all learn together.  After that, it can be
done from home as long as you have a computer with internet access or you're welcomed to come to my house
and we can work on it together.  Thank you to all those families that have contributed photos ... I've received so
many amazing shots, which will really enhance our yearbook. Contact me to join the fun!  Thanks, Kim  P.S. I am
hoping to set up training for later this week.
